One of the larger pieces that we have worked on in recently was a special job for a major antiques dealer for his own home. The entire piece took some 4 weeks from start to finish but transformed a sad and tired piece into something that now takes pride of place in a family home.

At Able2Cane we cover a wide range of traditional furniture craft including rush and basketwork. These pieces are a mixture of personal items, and renovation pieces.

Canework comes in two forms. Traditional canework consists of the weaving of single strands to form the overall pattern. However there is an alternative, and that is machine cane. For items using this process a totally different approach is required. However don't be fooled into thinking that because the canework is machine produced it is a modern idea. In fact machine cane was first used, and popularized by the Victorian furniture makers.

Danish cord has been popular at various times in the last century, and new items using this unique construction can even be found on sale today.
